On-Premise Continues Growth Ahead of July 4 — CGA

The last two weeks in the US On Premise have continued to see growth, with trends of +3% to June 11 followed by +2% to June 18, with check value and traffic both holding steady at +1% for the latest week. Velocity remains slightly ahead of last year at +5% versus 2021, with similar trends over recent weeks, according to CGA by NielsenIQ’s On Premise Impact report.

With July 4 approaching, CGA’s data reveals that while last year trends were largely flat on the Sunday (4th July), the Monday (5th July 2021) saw an uplift of +61% versus the average Monday in 2021 to date. This was driven mainly by an increase in traffic (+43%), with check value (+12%) also positive. These trends were experienced in both Eating (+58%) and Drinking (+70%) venues, and across all key states led by Illinois (+88%).

“The On Premise is likely to see an uptick in traffic and check value across the Independence Day long weekend, but what will be key is understanding which venues and dayparts are likely to see the largest uplift – and across which categories,” said Matthew Crompton, CGA Regional Director- North America.
