Bev/Al Exports Fell in May

        Exports of distilled spirits fell $11 million in May from the prior month and was down $552 million from a year earlier, the Commerce Department reported.  Exports of wine and beer also fell, down $39 million in May from April but up $91 million year-to-date compared to the like 2017 period.

            Imports of distilled spirits also fell, by $42 million in May from April’s level.  Year-to-date, however, imports rose by $237 million. Imports of wine and beer were off slightly – just $3 million – in May from the month earlier.  For the year-to-date, imports of beer and wine were up $454 million.
