Warehouse Collapse Dumped 120,000 Gallons into Retention Ponds

The final collapse of Barton 1792 Distillery’s Warehouse 30 sent about 120,000 gallons of spirits into two retention ponds, state officials say.

The warehouse contained about 18,000 barrels, and Sazerac Co., which owns the distillery, said it doesn’t know how many barrels can be salvaged.

There’s no evidence of waterway contamination from the second collapse, officials say.

In another development, Sazerac paid $2.3 million to buy land in Murfreesboro, Tenn., to build an $86 million distillery.
