Schumer Calls for TTB to Ease Cider Packaging Regulations

The rules currently require any cider exceeding6.9% alcohol content to be packaged in wine-approved bottles or containers.

But New York cidery operators say this drives up production costs.  Packaging in cans would be more cost-effective, they say.  Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer apparently agrees and called on Alcohol & Tobacco Tax & Trade Bureau to ease its regulations to allow that.
