Beam Suntory to Pay $8.2 Million to Settle SEC Charges

Beam Suntory Inc. will pay $8.2 million to settle a Securities & Exchange Commission probe of alleged violations of accounting provides of the main U.S. antibribery law.

Beam Suntory disclosed in 2012 that it had begun an investigation of practices at its Indian operation.

The company agreed to pay the government about $5.3 million gained via its wrongdoing, roughly $917,000 in interest and a civil penalty of $2 million, the SEC said.
