Faced with a flood of Pennsylvanians buying alcoholic beverages thanks to Gov. Tom Wolf’s order closing state-run liquor stores, several West Virginia counties are prohibiting sales to out-of-state residents.
County health departments imposing the bans say the rule is an effort to enforce social distancing and to keep residents of other states with higher Covid-19 infection rates from spreading the virus in West Virginia.
Meanwhile, in New York State, liquor stores report sales have returned to normal following an initial surge when residents feared the stores would be closed. Some are offering curbside pickup with online ordering, a move that facilitates social distancing. Neither New York State liquor stores or distributors have been forced
