Virginia’s Gov.: ‘We’re the Birthplace of Bourbon’

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe notes that Kentucky “takes a lot of credit for bourbon, as you know.”  But that’s “a falsehood,” he says, explaining that in the 1780s, when bourbon got started, Kentucky was part of Virginia, “so, really, we’re the birthplace of everything.”  You can watch the governor at the launch of the 10th anniversary celebration of the reconstruction of George’s Washington’s Distillery in this clip from the Distilled Spirits Council.
