Tenn. Bill Bans DWI Offenders from Buying Alcohol

The measure, which passed the Tennessee House, would prohibit people convicted of driving under the influence to order a drink in a restaurant, purchase alcohol at a liquor store or in a gas station.

The bill originally called for a lifetime ban, but it was amended to give judges discretion on whether first and second DUI offender would be prohibited from buying alcohol for one year or two.   Violations would be a misdemeanor.
