During Maine’s last legislative session Gov. Paul LePage proposed prohibiting the sale of 50-ml miniature alcohol battles. Sazerac Co. said if the measure was enacted into law, it wouldn’t expand in Maine.
The measure failed, and Sazerac has now announced a $1 million expansion of its Boston Brands of Maine Lewiston bottling plan. The plant currently employs 130 persons, and Sazerac said it would add 30 more jobs, paying $16 to %18 an hour.
The plant produces Fireball Cinnamon Whisky.
Sazerac took over the building when Beam decided to leave Maine after buying White Rock Distilleries for $$605 million in 2012. “That has turned out to be an excellent decision, and we are now happy to be expanding and investing further in Maine’s economy,” Gerry Reid, director of business development for Boston Brands of Maine, said.
