Marie Brizard Sales Slide 5%, but Plunge 45.9% in the Americas

Marie Brizard Wine & Spirits reports fourth quarter sales fell 5% from the year-earlier level.  On an organic basis, sales were off 6.2%.

In the Americas, sales were off 45.9%.  Accounting for them on an organic basis was hardly better:  They were off 44.3%.

The company attributed the decline in the Americas to “continued destocking of Sobieski in some regional markets into Q4 2018. Additionally, pricing pressure accelerated in the U.S. vodka market over the holiday season, with overall pricing in the category moving downward and a consequent negative impact on Sobieski’s net sales.
