Kentucky Coalition Offers Safe Rides for Holidays

The Safe Ride KY coalition is offering $10,000 worth of safe ride discounts to complement “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” efforts and prevent impaired driving this holiday season. The special code for Lyft mobile application will be announced on Thursday (12/19). Individuals above the age of 21 can enter the code into the Lyft app to receive a free $10 ride that will encourage them to plan ahead for the perfect night out.

“Drunken driving related crashes are always 100% preventable,” said Kentucky Distillers Association President Eric Gregory. “We applaud and fully support the coalition’s efforts to help prevent these tragedies from occurring on Kentucky roadways.”

Since 2017, over 8,561 rides have been provided for various holidays including St. Patrick’s Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, and Labor Day weekend.

Safe Ride KY is funded by the KDA, Lyft, the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of Kentucky, Independent Stave Company, Buzick Construction and Becker Law Office and supported by the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety and Louisville Metro Councilman Brandon Coan (D).
