A new study, just released by Technavio, identifies the top five Scotch whiskey producers. It’s the usual crowd – Bacardi, Beam Suntory, Diageo, Pernod Ricard and William Grant & Son.
What makes the study particularly interesting, at least in explaining Scotland’s concerns about Brexit, is the fact that France accounts for 14.3% of the global Scotch Whisky market. That makes it the largest single market for the product.
Last year, Scotch whisky producers pumped out 950.16 million liters of Scotch. Technavio projects that growing by 2021 to 1.067 trillion liters.
Not surprisingly, off-premise sales dominated the global market for Scotch with a 58.75% share last year.
