Why Ray Isle Says Not to Worry About Smoke Taint in Napa

In a word, Isle, writing at FoodandWine.com, argues that because most grapes in Napa and Sonoma counties were harvested before the Wine Country wildfires erupted, there’s no reason to worry.  “That wine is made,” he quotes Karissa Kruse, president, Sonoma Grape Growers.  “It’s in barrels and it’s fine.”

Still, for grapes still sitting on vines, especially those vintners can’t get to, which means they have been in smokey conditions for days, it’s much more of a guess how they will taste.
