Drizly saw a jump from an average of 36% of all sales to 42% in the week leading up to Father’s Day. This is higher than the 37% of sales in the week before Father’s Day in 2018.
When looking at whiskey subcategories, scotch jumped to 27% of sales last week, from 22% over the previous 6 weeks. However, bourbon remained flat, suggesting that scotch is popular among dads, while bourbons aren’t more or less popular with dad.
Drizly also looked at gift specific orders (meaning orders labeled as a gift by the shopper, to be delivered to someone else), and scotch made up 38% of all whiskey gift sales in the week before Father’s Day.
