Whiskey and Wheaties Bill Dies in Colorado

The measure would have expanded the number of locations where alcohol could be sold.  But it was opposed by small liquor stores.  The House Appropriations Committee voted to kill the measure.

“We were just out-gunned by the (Colorado Licensed Beverage Association) and their 13 lobbyists. They really lawyered up to go after this bill,” Rep. Larry Liston (R) said. “They stuck by their mantra ‘No, no, no, never.’ They will do everything they can to stick by their monopoly and screw the consumer.

“As far as I’m concerned, it should go to the ballot,” Liston added. “If it went to the ballot, I’m sure the consumer would decide overwhelmingly for choice freedom.”
