As more than 200 distillers from across the country gather virtually for this years public policy conference, Distilled Spirits Council of the U.S. and American Craft Spirits Association indicated the top priorities for virtual visits with Congress will be the European Union’s retaliatory tariffs and market modernization at both the state and federal levels.
Chris Swonger, president/CEO, DISCUS, and Margie A.S. Lehrman, ASCA CEO, said these public policy conferences have resulted in tremendous achievements for the spirits industry. Most notably, this includes the passage of historic legislation to make the federal excise tax cut for distillers permanent as well as important federal support for distillers whose small businesses were affected by the pandemic.
