Alcohol & Tobacco Tax & Trade Bureau said total still wine production fell to 76,208,147 gallons in January, down 4.2% from 79,615,315 a year earlier. Taxable withdraws nearly tripled to 2.6 million gallons, inventories of still wine eased slightly, to 999,924,766 gallons from 1,015,359,277 gallons.
Sparkling wine production rose 15% to 3,056,017 gallons. Stocks at the end of the month also rose, to 20.7 million gallons from 18.7 million.
