Though Some States Dial Back, Total U.S. On-Prem Continues to Improve

Velocity has improved to -10% vs the norm in the week to June 27, representing a +220% increase on March 28 when shutdown commenced, according to Nielsen CGA.

But, no surprise, there has been a halt in progress in states where COVID-19 infection rates have begun rising again.

In Texas and Florida, the growth in velocity performance that has been delivered over the last few months has been tempered. In Florida, velocity was flat at -0.2% to June 27, while in Texas velocity dropped by -4% in the same week.

There is significant growth elsewhere in the country though, particularly in New York which has just recently seen an ease in lockdown in the NYC metro area

In the latest week, velocity grew by +53% June 27 vs June 20 in the city with the wider state growing by +24%
