They Found Rare Cognac, Liqueur on Sunken Ship, But Is It Drinkable?

Some 600 bottles of De Haartman & Co. cognac and 300 bottles of Benedictine liquor have been recovered from the Baltic Sea.

The team, from Ocean X and iXplorer doesn’t yet know if it’s drinkable.  “We can’t get any sense of small from the cognac bottles, but that might just be in order since it shouldn’t smell through a cork,” Peter Lindberg told CNN.

Benedictine is now owned by Bacardi Ltd.

Cases of the cognac and liqueur were on board the SS Kyros, a Swedish steamer sunk by a German U-boat during World War I.
