Steven Spurrier, Organized 1976 Judgment of Paris, Dies

It was the Judgment of Paris that put California wine on the map, promoting the expansion of wine in the New World.  Spurrier himself was a champion of French wine, and, as such, was as surprised at anyone about the results of the 19976 tasting. He also found Academie du Vin, France’s first private wine school,  and Christie’s wine course and authored several books. He died at home yesterday (3/9/21).
