Spirits Council to Promote Moderation at Whisky Live Events

Distilled Spirits Council and Whisky Live USA will provide adult consumers attending Whiskey Live events in six cities with an Alcohol and Moderation fact sheet as they enter the tasting events in New York; Washington, D.C.; Louisville; Pleasanton (San Francisco Bay-area); Chicago; and Los Angeles. It contains information on alcohol consumption from the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, the official nutrition policy of the United States.

The fact sheet also contains “5 Tips for Responsible Entertaining,” which include designating a bartender; understanding alcohol equivalence facts; providing food for guests; making non-alcohol beverages available; and ensuring that everyone has a safe way home.

“Exhibitors at all Whisky Live tasting events in the United States use of ΒΌ oz (15ml) calibrated pour spouts for bottles being sampled; 2 oz or smaller cocktail samples; water at every exhibitor table as well as multiple water stations throughout the venue with prominent posters to “Take a Break, Hydrate, and Enjoy the Evening”; and a lavish dinner buffet.

“The primary goal of the evening is to expand one’s understanding and appreciation for whisky,'” said Whisky Live USA President Dave Sweet. “Sample, learn, and become an educated consumer to enjoy whisky for its incredible flavor differences, subtle nuances, and histories and origins from around the world.
