Penna. Panel Clears Liquor Privatization Bill

The Pennsylvania House Liquor Control Committee approved an amendment to the State Constitution banning the commonwealth from making or selling liquor.  If the bill passes the legislature, it will go to the voters after at least a three-month wait.   If approved by voters, it would become effective 18 months after the vote.

Pennsylvania Licensed Beverage & Tavern Association said the bill is “dangerous for taverns, bars, and licensed restaurants” without knowing if their industries would be protected from unintended consequences.
