Blue Run Spirits Launches Second Release

Blue Run Spirits launched its second release with its liquid advisor, whiskey legend Jim Rutledge. Blue Run Spirits 13.5-Year-Old Single Barrel Cask Strength will retail for $229 and is now available in Kentucky, California, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington, DC, as well as online.

The extremely limited Bourbon is from ten separate barrels, each producing between 104-150 bottles, varying from 124 to 132 proof. Blue Run 13.5-Year-Old recently received top category honors at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. It will be followed by a 14-Year-Old Small Batch Bourbon (113 Proof) and a Rye Whiskey (95 Proof) later this summer.

Old Bridge Adds 2 Tasmanian Wineries to Portfolio

Old Bridge Cellars (OBC) expands its portfolio to include Devil’s Corner and Tamar Ridge, two Tasmanian wineries that showcase the diverse regionality of this island state. Inspired by the reception of its own Maison L’Envoyé wines from the region, OBC has been looking to partner with other like-minded Tasmanian wineries to import into the US.

From Tasmania’s East Coast, Devil’s Corner has grown in recent years to become the #1 Tasmanian brand and the #1 Pinot Noir sold in Australia (by value), while Tamar Ridge delves deeply into the terroir of the lower Tamar Valley.

George Dickel Returns to Bottled-in-Bond Category

Cascade Hollow Distilling Co. (Diageo) returns to the Bottled in Bond category with George Dickel Bottled in Bond Distilling Season Spring 2007, a limited-offering 13-year-old whisky. Following the releases of the brand’s top-rated and award-winning Fall 2005 and Fall 2008 whiskies, the third release in the series marks the first offering from a spring distilling season.

Beginning this month, the new George Dickel Bottled in Bond will begin rolling out in select markets across the nation for consumers to purchase for a suggested retail price of $44.99. Following the product’s initial launch in May, the new George Dickel Bottled in Bond will continue to hit shelves in markets throughout the summer so keep an eye out for the offering at local liquor stores in available markets.

Templeton Distillery Offers Grants for Entrepreneurs

Templeton Distillery launches the Templeton Distillery Entrepreneur’s Grant program, which will award three small businesses $10,000 each.

The distillery also announces launch of Templeton Rye 10 Year Reserve.  The 10 Year Reserve, along with along with the 4 and 6 Year, will be featured in refreshed packaging.

All US-based businesses are invited to apply for the Templeton Distillery Entrepreneur’s Grant, excluding those that sell alcohol or are owned by anyone under the age of 21. To enter, businesses will submit 250 words about why they should be considered. Entries will be judged on originality (40%), contributions to the local community (40%), and business viability (20%).

The grants are designed to help ignite the spark of these budding companies, just like early producers in the small town of Templeton, Iowa, were inspired by the idea to craft what was commonly known as “Templeton Rye” over 100 years ago. The launch of the grant program is timed alongside the debut of Templeton’s new 10 Year Reserve Rye Whiskey, complete with a refreshed look, marking a new chapter for the brand that respects the past yet is inspired by the future.
