Stella Artois Launches Bartender ‘Perfect Pour’ Training Program

Stella Artois introduced the “Perfect Pour” program to educate and engage bartenders that will ensure that each consumer will experience a perfectly poured beer every time. A Perfect Pour requires fresh beer and clean draught lines, served in a chalice with a head of foam, and presented with a smile.

“For the first time in two years, consumers will be able to watch basketball games and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on-premise. We know our fans have really missed enjoying ice cold, draught Stella Artois while they’ve been at home, and we want to make sure their return to the bars and restaurants they love is the best possible experience,” says Tony Romano, Vice President, On-Premise Sales, Anheuser-Busch. “It’s no secret the industry has seen tremendous change and staffing challenges and turnovers over the past two years. And with March as the busiest month in the on-premise, we’re proud to launch Stella Artois’s Perfect Pour initiative to assist training servers on the importance of quality execution with every single pour.”

“Anheuser-Busch and Stella Artois have a long-standing commitment to the entire bar and restaurant industry and those on the frontline of service,” said Peter Van Overstraeten, Vice President of Premium and Super Premium, Anheuser-Busch. “Anheuser-Busch is dedicated to investing in the future of the industry, and we’re proud to be leading that charge at Stella Artois. Restaurants, bars, and their workers are integral to our business day in and day out. Through these training sessions, not only will  bartenders have access and will be learning from the best in their industry, but it will allow them to help sharpen and elevate their technique.”

San Luis Obispo Coast TTB’s Newest AVA

Alcohol & Tobacco Tax & Trade Bureau designated the San Luis Obispo Coast as America’s newest American Viticultural Area.

The new AVA spans about 60 miles from San Simeon in the north to Nipomo in the south, but is at most only 15 miles wide, bordered by the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Lucia Mountains.

The San Luis Obispo Coast AVA’s 78 vineyards have 3,942 acres planted to vines — most famously, to premium Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. But over the past decade a more diverse list of grape varieties has taken root here, too: Albariño, Grüner Veltliner and Riesling are the leading aromatic whites, while the cool growing conditions continue to prove exemplary for red varieties such as Grenache, Syrah, Tempranillo, Zinfandel and Lagrein.

The SLO Coast Wine Collective, a group of 32 wineries making wine from grapes grown within the region, applied for the SLO Coast AVA in 2017, making a case for the designation based on the area’s unique geography, geology and topography — and in particular, its proximity to the Pacific Ocean.

TTB Proposes New Long Valley-Lake County AVA

Alcohol & tobacco Tax & Trade Bureau proposed establishing a new 7,605-acre American Viticultural Area in Lake County, Calif., and to modify another AVA to create a contiguous border with the proposed Long Valley-Lake County AVA.

Only the western third of the proposed Long Valley-Lake County viticultural area, and about three quarters of the High Valley viticultural area, would lie within the established, multi-county North Coast viticultural area. To avoid this partial overlap with the High Valley and proposed Long Valley-Lake County viticultural areas, TTB is proposing to expand the boundary of the North Coast viticultural area by approximately 23,690 acres.

The petition to establish the Long Valley-Lake County AVA was submitted by Terry Dereniuk, a consultant, and Dan Van Pelt and Clay Shannon, of Cache Creek Vineyards and the Shannon Family of Wines.

The proposed Long Valley-Lake County AVA is located in Lake County, California, and is partially within the existing North Coast AVA. The proposed AVA is also to the north and east of the established High Valley AVA. The approximately 7,605-acre proposed AVA currently contains 3 wineries and 5 commercial vineyards, which cover a total of approximately 149 acres.
