On-Premise Dips Slightly in Week: CGA

While CGA’s latest sales data reveals On Premise velocity in outlets currently trading is 46% higher than the same time last year in the week to October 30 and up 21% against the equivalent week in 2019, CGA noted that the channel has experienced slight single figure declines over the last two weeks. “We can see that the exact same dip came in 2020 and 2019 too showing that the market appears to have hit the ‘new normal’ stage perhaps a bit earlier than we all expected,” CGA said.

Only Texas experienced growth (+2%) in the previous week, before trends of 8 in the week to October 30 It is the best performing key state vs 2019 (+32%), CGA said.

After a flat week to October 23, negative trends in Orlando (-10%) and Miami (-2%), as well as the rest of Florida (-2%) result in slightly negative trends in Florida for the most recent week (-3%).

Driven by trends in Chicago (-14%), Illinois has seen a drop of (-10%) in the most recent week. Despite this, it continues to perform well vs 2019 (+8%) and is +108% up on 2020 velocity due to the increasing Covid restrictions at the time.

Overall trends for California over the latest weeks has been slightly negative, with (-2%) in the week to October 23 followed by (-6%) in the latest week.
