Oldest Veteran Credited Long Life to Drinking Whiskey Daily

Not only that, but Richard Overton, who was the oldest veteran and the oldest man in the U.S. when he was laid to rest at age 112 Saturday (1/12) also smoked 12 cigars every day. Maker’s Mark was one of his favorite whiskeys.  “He just liked the taste of it, as he said. A little whiskey in your coffee in the morning is kind-of like medicine. It’s not to get you drunk or anything. It just makes you feel better,” Volma Overton Jr., a cousin, said.  KXAN interrupted its regular programming to carry his funeral.  You can see it here.
