Number of Locations Pouring Beer at Lowest Since June

The failure of elected public officials to mandate widespread mitigation testing resulted in only 81% of locations surveyed by BeerBoard being open and pouring beer this past weekend, BeerBoard said.   That’s down dramatically from the Oct. 23-26 weekend, when 92% of all locations were open.

A year ago, on average 34 taps were open in the establishments BeerBoard monitors.  This year, just 15 taps were open.  That’s a 55.9% plunge.

Compared to the same weekend, volume per location is down 42% nationally, but BearBoard noted that for the second consecutive period, volume grew, rising 9.65% nationally compared to Dec. 4-6.

Rate of Sale continued to see growth nationally for the third straight period, climbing +9.6% over Dec 4-6. Many of the states tracked also saw healthy growth, with South Carolina (+13.9%), Georgia (+8.9%) and Texas (+6.0%) leading the way. There are also positive signs in Michigan (+42.9%) and Minnesota (+13.0%), two states working through heavy restrictions.
