A Non-Alcoholic Budweiser?
That may be in the offing from Anheuser-Busch.
At least, that’s the view of MillerCoors, which noted Alcohol & Tobacco Tax & Trade Bureau recently approved a label for “Budweiser Zero.” The label says Budweiser Zero has no sugar and less than 0.5% alcohol by volume.
Its label reads: “This is America’s genuine non-alcoholic brew. During Prohibition we brewed a non-alcoholic recipe for those who counted on Budweiser taste and quality. A century later, we deliver a fresh take on a classic recipe, with a smoothness and drinkability great for nearly every occasion.”
The TTB-approved label shows Budweiser Zero has 91 calories and 22 grams of carbohydrates.
A-B’s not talking. But MillerCoors notes that Budweiser Zero has a lot more calories than its pending low-calorie offering, Coors Edge (41 calories, 8 grams of carbohydrates, less than 5% ABV.)
Sales of non-alcohol beer are up 8% in volume and 18.6% in sales through Aug. 24, sharply outpacing regular beer which is up 0.7% and 4.1% respectively.
