Montana May Switch to Bids for Liquor Licenses . . .

. . . if a bill introduced in the state legislature is approved.

Liquor licenses used to be awarded in Montana by lottery, but during a special session in November 2017 to gin up additional revenue, lawmakers changed to a competitive bidding process.

The lottery is expected to raise about $600,000 this year, jumping to $1 million in the future.
