Mississippi House Votes to Ease Alcohol Laws

The Mississippi House approved,91-19, and sent to the Senate a bill allowing people to drive through dry areas of Mississippi carrying unopened alcohol and not face charges of possession of alcohol in a dry county.

Also approved, 87-24, and sent to the Senate was a bill allowing distilleries to sell their products to visitors.  The distilleries would still have to buy their own product from the State ABC system.

The House also approved a bill that would allow maritime vessels certified to carry 150 or more passengers on the Mississippi Sound or Mississippi River to sell alcohol to passengers.
