Gallo to Open Flagship Store on China’s Largest B2C Platform

  1. & J. Gallo Winery has signed a three-year strategic joint business partnership with Alibaba Group, the world’s largest online and mobile commerce company.

As part of the agreement, a new E. & J. Gallo Winery flagship store will open later this year on Alibaba’s Tmall, China’s largest B2C platform for both international and Chinese brands and retailers.

In line with Alibaba’s vision of New Retail to seamlessly blend online and offline shopping experiences, Gallo will also be featured on Tmall’s Supermarket, Hema Supermarket and RT-Mart which leverage technology and consumer insights to offer consumers a more-efficient shopping experience.

While Gallo has partnered with Tmall in the past for its Carlo Rossi, Peter Vella and Gallo Family Vineyards brands, the new E. & J. Gallo Winery flagship store will feature more than 20 of Gallo’s premium wine brands including Apothic, Carnivor, Dark Horse, Gallo Signature Series, Orin Swift, La Marca, William Hill Estate Winery, J Vineyards, MacMurray Estate Vineyards, and several others to meet the growing demand in China for high-quality wine.

According to a new report from Vinexpo, Asia is driving global growth in the wine market and China is leading that growth.  In 2017, China was the world’s third largest importer by value at $16.41 billion and by 2021, the wine market in China is expected to grow 40% to $22.97 billion which would make it the second most valuable wine market in the world.
