Gallo Buys Vacant Fruit Plant

E.&J. Gallo Winery bought 47 of the 115 acres at the plant, across from Modesto Airport in the Beard Industrial District. Gallo said it will use the site instead of building a 68-acrewinery in San Joaquin County that had been opposed by neighbors who feared traffic, noise, lighting and groundwater issues.

The other 68 acres were acquired by G3 Enterprises, founded by third generation Gallo family members to provide labels, closures, trucking and other goods and services to the industry.
