For Sober October, a Zero Alcohol Gin

To be honest, we didn’t know there was a “Sober October.”  But apparently there is, and a group of San Diego entrepreneurs have developed “the world’s first zero alcohol gin, which actually tastes, burns and mixes like a traditional London Dry gin.”

The promoters say Monday Gin is intended to “empower those who choose not to drink.”

But it’s not yet a commercial venture.  The backers are seeking to raise $13,398 on Kickstarter.  As of Tuesday evening they had 104 backers and had raised $5,089.

Kickstarter fundraisers generally offer some sort of bonus.  For Monday Gin, they’re offering product – the $29 VIP Special gets one bottle in December; the $39 early bird receives its bottle in January.  $45 gets a bottle of Monday Gin in February.  For $54, one can get two bottles in December, $66 gets two bottles in January, and $72 gets 3 bottles in January.  All these prices are plus shipping.

The company says it is working on two new products plus a ready-to-drink gin and tonic in cans.

Comment:  We find the pricing structure odd, to say the least.  We would have thought that the largest donor/customer would get priority delivery over someone who donates a lesser amount.  And we would have expected some sort of swag – tee-shirt, coasters, whatever.
