Five Free Apps for Tracking Mileage, Expenses

If you drive your personal vehicle for work you’re probably reimbursed by your company.  But if you aren’t – or if you use your car for charitable, moving or medical purposes — you may qualify for a standard mileage rate deduction from your taxes.

Back in the old days, tracking mileage meant dragging a notebook out of the glove box and hoping your pen wasn’t out of ink.  If you drive your personal vehicle for other kinds of paid work or use it for charitable, moving or medical purposes, you may also qualify for a standard mileage rate deduction.

About Jered Kushner’s Back Channel to Russia Pitch

Nothing new here.  Richard M. Nixon had one, as detailed in a book published by the University Press of Kentucky.  So did Jimmy Carter, as detailed in Back Channel to Cuba:  The Hidden History of Negotiations between Washington and Havana.   Hillary and Bill Clinton also used back channels.  So did George H. W. Bush – before he became President.  Ronald Reagan engaged in back-channel diplomacy, using a woman named Suzanne Massie, as detailed in The Daily Beast.  You might say, “but they all did it after they were in the White House,” ignoring Bush 41’s practice.  But of course he was vice president.  Nonetheless, we expect the President to hit the ground running.  So why wouldn’t he have someone he trusts try to set up a “back channel” to a formidable adversary like Russia?
