CBrands: Our Corona Sales Are Doing Just Fine, Up 5% in 4-Week Period

We reported last week that a survey by a public relations firm sought to answer the question, “what’s in a name.”  The survey found consumers were avoiding Corona beer because of fears it somehow was linked to the novel coronavirus.

Bill Newlands, CEO/president, Constellation Brands, said the survey “simply do not reflect our business performance and consumer sentiment, which includes feedback from our distributor and retailer partners across the country.”

In its statement, Constellation cited IRI retail sales trends showing that sales of Corona Extra increased 5% in the four-week period ending Feb. 16, “nearly doubling the 52-week trend for the brand.”
