Finally, a bit of good news from California. Those Wine Country fires in Napa and Sonoma County are 91% contained, according to CalFire. More good news: Rain is expected to dump 0.1-0.3 inches

Why Ray Isle Says Not to Worry About Smoke Taint in Napa
In a word, Isle, writing at FoodandWine.com, argues that because most grapes in Napa and Sonoma counties were harvested before the Wine Country wildfires erupted, there’s no reason to worry.

Why Vineyards Were Untouched by Wine Country Fires, Even as Houses on Property, Urban Neighborhoods Burned
Here’s an oddity: those fires in California wine country that have taken at least 40 lives, and burned 217,566 acres, and destroyed at least 10 wineries barely touched vineyards.

Gallo to Donate $1 Million to Fire Recovery Effort
The money will be divided among the American Red Cross California Wildfires Relief Fund, the Community Foundation of Sonoma and the Napa Valley Community Foundation. In addition, Gallo will match employee donations two-for-one.
