‘Booze Traveler’ Visits Baltimore’s Sagamore Spirit

We hate it when P.R. people do this.  Because it’s a missed opportunity.

Travel Channel’s “Booze Traveler,” Jack Maxwell, visited Sagamore Spirit, where he was introduced to the charms of Maryland-style rye.  So far, so good.

It was all captured on film, as part of an episode on Maryland bev/al that aired on March 26.  Sagamore Spirit got around to putting out a press release about it on March 30 – four days after the episode aired.

That’s a wasted opportunity.  Surely Sagamore Spirit could have learned when the episode was going to run and put out a release a couple of days in advance, perhaps gaining play in Maryland newspapers, broadcast outlets and blogs.

Note to P.R. people:  Timeliness is the art and essence of journalism, and of effective public relations.  The mere fact that “you can watch the full Chesapeake Bay episode on YouTube or TravelChannel.com,” as the release says, doesn’t excuse the failure to publicize the airing in advance.
