It wasn’t supposed to be super-strong, but “at most” 1,000 cases of 1.14-liter Bombay Sapphire London Dry Gin had an alcohol content of 77%, not the 40% listed on the bottle.
It was inadvertent, Bacardi says, and we’re sure it was. The problem is, while those bottles went only to Canada – and have been pulled from store shelves – the story is all over the internet. It’s a reminder that not only can mistakes be grossly magnified, but the damage can be global, not restricted to a particular geographic jurisdiction as would have been the case in past decades. The internet is a wonderful thing – except when you (pardon the vernacular) screw up.
