Asylum Distillery Changes Name to Fifth State

Asylum was named based on its street address — 259 Asylum Street, Bridgeport, Conn. – but its motto was “Distilling the spirit of Connecticut.”  Owner Rob Schulten has changed it to Fifth State Distillery to better reflect his ambitions.

The off-premise product line includes Fifth State Gin, Ginger Zap Vodka, Fifth State Vodka, CT Maple Whiskey, Cinnamon Zap, Simply Celery, plus several products that “are exclusively available to sample and purchase at the distillery.” Including Seville Gin, a spiced liqueur, limoncello and orangecello.

Fifth State’s products are distributed through CT Distributing Inc.
