This is really pretty cool: Astral Tequila (Davos Brands) is introducing “smart” bottles to engage with consumers in-store and deliver customized digital experiences with the tap of a smartphone.
The interactive spirits bottles feature NFC technology are the first of their kind in the U.S market. Astral is collaborating with Thin Film Electronics ASA (‘Thinfilm’), a NFC (near field communications) mobile marketing solutions provider.
The bottles – which feature a custom, NFC-enabled neck collar – are debuting on store shelves in retail outlets throughout California, Texas, Florida, New York, Illinois, New Jersey and Georgia. While in-store at the point of sale, consumers will be able to tap their smartphones to bottles of Astral Tequila to initiate exclusive content, including original video from Jonathan Goldsmith, the actor best known for his former role as “The Most Interesting Man in The World.”
Astral gave a preview of its partnership with Goldsmith this past June during a rare video message directed by David Lipman. “I told you I don’t always drink beer,” said Goldsmith. “I prefer tequila – Astral Tequila.”
Astral Tequila was founded by Master Sommelier Richard Betts, and has created a unique spirit reminiscent of the way tequila was made 150 years ago before the process was industrialized. The 92-proof tequila is described as elegant, complex, subtle, smooth and balanced.
It’s part of Davos Brands, whose portfolio includes TYKU Sake, Aviation American Gin, Sombra Mezcal, and Astral Tequila.
