Argentine Winery Tapiz Saw 32% Growth in U.S. Market In 2017

Argentinian winery Tapiz saw 32% growth in the U.S. market in 2017, landing at 34,400 cases shipped under importer Vino Del Sol.

This growth is largely driven by Tapiz Alta Cabernet Sauvignon, a high elevation single vineyard wine that grew 135% as a single sku in 2017. (Argentine Cabernet Sauvignon grew 23% overall across Vino Del Sol’s entire portfolio of wines.)

Owned by former medical doctor Patricia Ortiz, Tapiz exclusively crafts wines from its sustainably farmed estate vineyards in Uco Valley. One of its marquee sites is San Pablo, which lies at 4,600 feet above sea level as one of the highest vineyards in Mendoza. The altitude extremes impart intense concentration and natural acidity to the wines, as demonstrated by the single vineyard Tapiz Alta Collection. Throughout the entire range of wines, winemakers Berrouet and Fabian Valenzuela work together to create a beautiful tapiz (tapestry) of unfiltered fruit and oak aging, producing full-bodied yet elegant wines.
