With Bars Closed, C-Stores’ Bev/Al Sales Suge

National Retail Solutions POS systems recorded a 19% increase in Beer/FMB/Cider sales between 2019 and 2020, with 2020 total dollar sales at $198,030,879. Additionally, spirit sales increased by 47.9% with 2020 total dollar sales at $89,141,146 and wine sales increased by 44.5% with 2020 total dollar sales at $19,191,401

The 2020 dollars and % change vs YAGO are based on a same store selling dataset.  This means that only active stores that were scanning in the NRS universe prior to 1/1/2019 were included to prevent the addition of new stores causing artificial growth.

Advertisers have taken notice of the change in consumer trends and they are shifting their focus from bars and to liquor stores, bodegas, and grocery stores, says Elie Y. Katz, President and CEO of National Retail Solutions.
