As far as wineries go, California Gov. Newsom’s order closing bars, pubs and wineries “applies only to winery tasting activities and events, Wine Institute said. The purchase and pick up of wine and winery business and production operations are not impacted.
A second order, by seven Bay Area counties health officers, remained unclear as we went to press this morning. It ordered residents to shelter at home for three weeks, until April 7. Does it apply to winery production operations? The order does exempt “essential businesses” and workers needed to maintain “minimum basic operations” at a business, which would seem to include winery production.
But it is not clear, and Wine Institute told us was working last night to clarify the matter. You can read the order here.
