What to Know About the GOP’s Health Care Bill and CDC

The “Prevention and Public Health Fund” – something new under Obamacare – provided $891 million to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention last year.  That’s one-eighth the CDC’s total budget.  Some $324 million was for immunization programs, $160 million for preventive public health services (including CDC’s alcohol program) and $126 million for programs intended to increase public awareness of health risks associated with tobacco use.
