Latest numbers from Alcohol & Tobacco Tax & Trade Bureau, out today, show production in March rose to 27,652,143 wine barrels from 27,277,804 wine barrels. But taxable withdrawals fell to 1,376,659 barrels from 1,945,827.
Those numbers would have been worse if hard cider – which TTB considers a wine, not beer, product – hadn’t grown to 54,390 barrels from 52,839.
