TTB Accepts $350,000 Compromise from Brewers Distributing Co.

Alcohol & Tobacco Tax & Trade Bureau alleged Brewers Distributing Co., Peoria, Ill., sold alcohol beverage products to retailers with the right of return, which is a practice prohibited under the consignment sales provisions of the Federal Alcohol Administration Act.

TTB also alleged Brewers Distributing required retailers to purchase their products, which is a violation of the exclusive outlet provisions of the FAA Act.

Consignment sales and exclusive outlet violations, like other trade practice violations, give an unfair advantage over law-abiding competitors and ultimately limit consumer choice.

TTB remains committed to putting an end to anti-competitive practices that hurt law-abiding businesses and prevent consumers from enjoying a wide selection of products.
