Tealixir Herbal Brewery Ends Plastic 6-Pack Rings Use

“Plastic 6-pack rings are an environmental menace. Fortunately, breweries now have an option thanks to E6PR,” states Dan McCarthy, co-founder, Tealixir. “We decided to take the plunge the minute we discovered them. To us, the eco-friendly rings are a win-win for both breweries and the environment.”

Created by Saltwater Brewery, the edible 6-pack ring or E6PR is 100% biodegradable and completely edible for sea life as they are made from the stalks of wheat and barley, not the grain, which make them certified gluten-free and completely compostable. Studies have found that 90% of seabirds and other marine life have mistaken plastic for food which harms and often kills them. E6PRs should be composted, but if they do make their way into the ocean, they won’t harm sea creatures.

“Our customers are health-conscious, so it’s a perfect match we become more planet-conscious and chose a plastic alternative,” says Olivia Sarratt McCarthy, co-founder and herbalist. “When you learn how much it wreaks havoc on marine life, it’s not hard to change your plastic consumption. Hopefully, the tide will turn on plastic pollution sooner rather than later,” states Sarratt McCarthy. “Today’s market is full of eco-conscious consumers and we’re happy to oblige!”
