Chateau Ste. Michelle is marking its 50th Anniversary this year releasing 2015 Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, featuring the original label from the first 1967 vintage, the year the winery was founded. The 50th Anniversary Special Bottling bottle is now available at retailers nationwide.
Along with the new bottles, Chateau Ste. Michelle announced the Golden Cork Sweepstakes initiative as part of its 50th Anniversary. From Mar. 31 to Sept. 30, inside every 50th Anniversary Special Bottling of Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a chance to win one of 50 prizes. Four Grand Prize winners will be selected to win a trip for two to visit Chateau Ste. Michelle in Woodinville, Washington.
In addition to the 750-ml. bottle (SRP $15), a one-time 1-L magnum bottling of the throwback label (SRP $50) will be released for retail and restaurants and serve as a rare collector’s item. Distribution for the 750-ml. bottles is 200,000 cases nationwide, while the magnum is 20,000 cases.
“Cabernet Sauvignon is a standout variety from Washington, with silky tannins, rich complexity and concentrated fruit,” said Bob Bertheau, head winemaker. “That’s why our Columbia Valley Cabernet is the perfect choice to carry the nostalgic banner of our 50th anniversary. We hope you’ll raise a glass and help us celebrate the next 50 years!”
