Meanwhile, Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito announced an emergency bill, H.4974, proposes allowing restaurants that are already licensed to sell alcohol can sell beer or wine with food orders. The food must be picked up or delivered, under the current restrictions during the pandemic. The beer and wine cannot exceed 192 ounces of beer, or 16 bottles of 12-ounces, and 1.5 liters of wine, the equivalent of two bottles, per transaction. The measure also provides other relief, including to local governments.
In Chattanooga, Tenn., restaurants are offering beer to go. Meanwhile, craft breweries that don’t operate a restaurant are waiting approval to make deliveries. City officials, who have to approve any relief, thought a ruling from the governor included all craft breweries.
