Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, the largest wine and spirits distributor in North America, adopts Wine Scholar Guild’s French Wine Scholar study and certification program to train its employees on the wines of France. Currently, 23 Southern Glazer’s employees have earned the FWS title and post-nominal with 140 more mid-study.
“France is one of the most important wine-producing countries on earth,” states Eric Hemer, MW, MS, Senior Vice President and Corporate Director of Wine.
“As Southern Glazer’s represents hundreds of French wine producers, it is imperative that our wine sales personnel have an in-depth knowledge of the wines and regions of France to be able to increase their ability to sell these great wines to our restaurant and retail customers throughout North America. I find that the French Wine Scholar Program is the best program available to achieve this goal.”
“Southern Glazer’s is already the biggest wine wholesaler in North America, the fact that they strive to be the best and best-educated is testimony to their commitment to their customers. We are delighted to be a part of their drive for excellence,” states Lisa M. Airey, Wine Scholar Guild Education Director.
The French Wine Scholar (FWS) program is an international study and certification program endorsed by the French Ministry of Agriculture. The FWS program is offered by a network of over 50 program providers in 20 countries on five continents which confers true international market equity to the credential.
